  • Seller's Information About this Truck:
The low mileage on this truck is accurate.  The city is fairly small, and over the years the truck did not go out on that many calls.

I did a phone interview with the man who was the main driver of this truck up until around Sept. of 2013.  He said it drove pretty good, accelerated fine and stopped fine.  In the last two years, they had made repairs to the water tank and done some cabinet work.  He said the truck was serviced every year, and he felt like the interior could be described as "reasonable."  Three firefighters sat inside the cab and two more could sit in jump seats outside.

You will find six 3-ring binders, related to the truck (4 binders) and to the Waterous Pumping System (2 binders). These are great books about the operation, maintenance and parts for the truck.  The Waterous books show, in great detail, all about the pumping system.

Inside one of the Operation books, there are probably over 100 (totally organized) monthly Apparatus Check List" charts, that show the mileage for each check-up and have places for check marks for things like:  engine oil, battery levels, tire air pressure, lights, belts, control handles, power steering, etc.  There are also about 60+ monthly engine checklist sheets.

Apparatus Information

  • Seagrave, founded by Fredric Seagrave in Detroit, Michigan in 1881, is the oldest continuous manufacturer of fire apparatus in the United States. The company moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1891 and remained there until 1963. In 1963 Seagrave moved all operations to Clintonville, Wisconsin. FWD was founded in 1909 by Otto Zachow and William Besserdich in Clintonville, Wisconsin. It became a premier manufacturer of severe chassis and produced America's first all-wheel drive chassis.

  • This old fire truck would make a good collector's rig, or parade piece for a Volunteer Fire Department, or a Fire Fighter who just wants their own rig to make local appearances.
